Letchworth Garden City RFC - the "home" of this year's county sevens - played host to its first county training day yesterday. Nearly 40 girls - including a large number of new faces - turned up and were put through their paces by Luke, Vikki, and Rachel.
Ampthill Girls took part for the first time, being invited to attend as currently they are Bedfordshire's only girls team (and so they have no county side of their own). As well as several useful looking players, they also brought with them the news that Bedford Blues RFC are looking to establish a girls' section.
The next date in the calendar for the county is 18th March, when the U17s will be playing some exhibition games before the England and England A internationals at Old Albanians.
This will be combined with training ahead with the aim of entering sides into an inter-county tournament in Surrey on 9th April. This will feature an U17 10s event, and U14 7s (so good practice for the 14th May as well!).
